I ahve BS this morning. We're doing a Beth Moore study. Everyone speaks so highly of her studies. I don't know, maybe just not my cup of tea???

Beth Moore studies aren't exactly my cup of tea either. My BS group last year started into a 10 week study of hers (Jesus the One and Only) ... and around week 25 we all tossed the books into the middle of the floor and said forget it!! (A lot of the women in the group had problems figuring out exactly what was being asked because of the choice of wording in the workbook ... WAY over several heads!)

I don't think I have ever seen a Beth Moore study.

Some of the best Bible studies I have ever done was taking the Bible outside, putting a blanket on the ground under a tree, and just reading, Guess I don't do group Bible studies. I think it's because of some Bible studies I have been to in the past. They would end up more of an argument and a lot less of a study.

Last night we were at Ds2's. We had a severe thunderstorm warning and storms were supposed to have over 70mph winds and 3/4 inch hail. We were watching the radar on the Weather Channel and the storm was a bow echo. Well, ds2 thought it was funny that I had been sort of freaking about the storm. It fell apart just before it hit us. He said the storms always do that. I think I lived in OK and MO too long.

Ds had never seen a town get attacked by fish flies. They were covering the road and trying to get into ds2's house. He said he was going to have nightmares about being attacked by them.. Earlier he thought that they were awesome little creatures when there were a couple of them on the porch.

His, there are a few people I know of that also don't care for Beth Moore.

I attempted a Beth Moore study a couple of years ago. I think it might have been good, but I just had too much on my plate and I couldn't keep up with it. The videos were good and everyone else seemed to enjoy it, but I just got farther and farther behind on the reading. There was a LOT of reading, especially at the beginning.

Melissa is out and about but still feeling some occasional dizziness. Her blood pressure was on the low end of normal when we left the ER the other night. I made Steve promise to keep her out of the sun, make her drink a lot, and pick up a blood pressure monitor on the way home.

My back is actually feeling pretty good as long as I don't sit for too long. I'm supposed to get a couple more shots at 2 week intervals and then we'll go from there.

We have company coming in next week . . . a friend of Ashley's from FL and a friend of mine from WA. I am at Melissa's working, and my kids are home cleaning the house. Works for me.

Cindy, glad your back is feeling better.

I think I pulled a muscle in my back. It hurts after I hold the baby for awhile. I should change his name to Jumpy. He loves to stand on my lap and try to jump up and down. I think my muscles are getting old.

Hmmm, are they going to deliver the lunches to your home, Judy?

It's Dd that is trying to register one of the grandkids... They never said anything about delivery. They didn't even say that he could pick up a lunch. They just want the extra cash from the state.....
Ds said that maybe they were going to email everyone a picture of a jar of Skippy and a carton of milk.

Every district wants extra money from the state. There have been so many cuts in education in recent years that I really cannot blame them; however, it does not make it an honest way to get money.

I'll be going to church camp for a few days as a counselor. It should be fun! We leave tomorrow morning and we'll get back Wednesday afternoon.

Church camp sounds like fun. Ds used to go every year until we moved back to Michigan.

Saturday we went to ds2's for a BBQ. Everyone was there. Dd3 went home and had her 4 kids and dd2 followed her wwith her 3 kids. Ds said that he was going to ask if we could go to her house for awhile but didn't. Well, she got back just about dark and her oldest ds saw that his bedroom window was wide open. He jumped the railing on the porch to shut it and then ran to the shed and came back with a long 2 by 4. Dd said then that she saw someone looking out the window and screamed for the kids to get back into the car. Dd2 got ther a few minutes later and saw someone looking out the other window. Dd's cell phone was dead and went down the street to called ds2 first and then the police. Ds made it there before the police. Whoever it was got out of the house and got away. The police came and said that they thought it might have been some kid or kids in there. (Gs had come home from school a few times and had climbed in that way because he had forgotten his key.)
They were there taking fingerprints for an hour or so. It was pretty scary for dd but worse for the kids. We sat outside of their house until about 3 a.m. just to make sure they were safe.

That's very scary, Judy. Was anything damaged or taken in the break-in? Can the window be secured so no one can get in that way anymore?

That what was so weird. Nothing was taken. Maybe someone had just went in and dd cane home. I am just glad that gs decided to sit on the porch instead of all of them walking in on someone. Dd is making sure that all of the windows are locked.

Ds is sick. He's been coughing and sneezing. Pray for him. The baby feels like his chest is rattling. He has an appointment for tomorrow and isn't running a fever or anything.

Does anyone think it's possible that a kid can be allergic to one cat but not another?
Ds says he starts sneezing when he gets around his short haired cat but is OK around the fluffy cat. That just sounds strange to me. I think I will give them both cats a bath when I go home again.
I am holding the baby and typing this. How old do you think a baby is supposed to be before he starts using a mouse or the number pad? I had to go back and erase some zeros. Then I figured out how they got there!!!

It still feels like I have a pulled muscle in my shoulder blade. Of course I just drove about 60 miles to get here before 7:30.

The guy next door to us complained to the landlord that we woke him up at 5:30 in the morning a few weeks ago. I told the landlord that I have to be 60 miles away by 7 so maybe I did accidentally wake them up. I told the landlord that maybe it was because they are drunk and partying all night that they got so disturbed. It has been very quiet there lately.

Oh my, Judy! How scary about someone entering someone's home without their knowledge/consent. That sounds like your neighbor's problem for getting woke up so early, lol.

Church camp was fun, but I ended up coming home early. I was feeling horribly awful with sinus congestion (head, nose, and throat), so I went to the nurse who said I had a slight fever. Since I was feeling so yucky, I just decided to come home as I didn't want to take a chance of getting anyone else sick. I have taken some medication (which I researched a LOT because we found out we're finally expecting). Chicken rice soup went down just right and I am starting to feel marginally better. I am sure it helps to be out of the heat (forecasted high today was 102) as well.

Now I need to order DS's curriculum for school. I cannot wait!

Congratulations on the good news!

Our neighbor had a baby today. This is #5. I can hardly wait to see him. My daughters babysat for the other children all day until their dad got home to take them up to see their mom and the baby.

Hello all! I haven't been on in quite a while, so I know I'm out of touch with everyone! Sorry!! At least I still see some familiar "faces"!

I noticed something un-cool in the forum, though. I've been on Crosswalk since 1997 and I remember when they re-vamped the layout some years back and I went from being a senior member back to being a new member. That was a bummer. Did they do it again, because here I am at "new member" status again with only 10 posts -- and my profile photo is gone. Sniff. I feel unloved. (just kidding -- although it has been a rather tough day and I was hoping for some validation and encouragement.) Oh, well. Just part of life, I suppose. I think I'll go grab some chocolate and call it a night.

It's a bummer, for sure. What happens is this...when a thread is not posted in for a year, those threads are purged in order to save space for newer threads. When the threads are purged, all post counts from the threads are also lost. So that means that in the last year, you have only made 10 posts, which is why you are a new member even though you aren't new.

My own post count has been cut in half over the past year or so.

Huh! I haven't looked at my post count in quite a while. It used to be over 10,000. I don't mind it going down, but I would mind if I lost my photo.

I think I have posted more than 600 times, too.

Daughter of faith, I do not miss having your weather. We were in SW MO for years and then in Bartlesville, OK for another year. It was so bad it wouldn't even cool off at night. You can come and visit us if you want until it's cooler. Just bring some jackets.
Here in Michigan, we get to run the heater and AC in the same day!

I have been watching the weather. So far, a huge storm has raced across Lake Michigan and is heading towards us. Ds always says they fall apart before reaching us.
We are near Lake Huron. The other night the storms held together for over 200 miles and then fell apart. I don't think it's the storms that scare me. It's being in a mobile home that does it. I guess I watch too much on the Weather Channel. One time they showed that winds over 70mph could literally pull the ends of a mobile home out and fold the rest of it in.
Ok, gotta go baby J wants his breakfast!!

Cooler weather would definitely be nice, Judy.

Welcome back, Rebecca! I don't believe we've met yet as I only started visiting the homeschool arena this past year. Anyway, I'm Megan. My DH and I have a 7 year old son that I'll be hsing this fall.

Thanks for the congratulations, y'all! We're pretty excited. I go for my first appointment tomorrow, but it's one of those fill out paperwork/discuss payments/insurance appointments.

I know my post count has fluctuated some, but I didn't think my status had changed. Hmmmm, maybe I've kept up enough here and there for it to remain stable. I didn't post for awhile, but I've started posting regularly again.

Did ya ever get up and feel like you just started the day and were behind everything?
Usually I get to be on the pc and drink my coffee in peace and quiet.
OK,I am on the pc sand ya just couldn't ask for a better baby. He is playing in the playpen and smiling. He isn't one of those screaming I need a bottle now kind of babies at all! It's the dog that is needy. I open the door and he needs to follow me outside. Then he needs to sit by me when I am drinking my coffee on the picnic table. Then it happened. I got up and he didn't. My foot accidentally stepped on his tail. My first thought was "There goes my leg!" I told him I was sorry and petted him. He followed me inside and led me to his dishes... I guess he wanted a peace offering.
The dog is not the smartest one in the world. Guess because he has pit in him. He will chase a rabbit and stop in his tracks if ya call his name. He wants to go outside in a thunderstorm. He is supposed to be a grandson of my old Golden Retriever, but something must have gotten lost in the gene pool along the way. She could warn me of a storm coming before we heard the thunder and chasing rabbits made her deaf!

I have started taking dance class to help get in shape. It is a Zumba class. I have gone to two nights, and it is really fun! It has been so busy here. My brother got married last month, Russ's parents stayed with us for 3 weeks, the Roper Clan visited with us a few days, we went camping, and now I am doing Zumba! David is getting ready to go to a short term missions trip in another week.

Ouch. Get lots of rest.

I was blessed today. A woman in our homeschool group gave me American Literature (Learning Language Arts Through Literature), plus the books that go with it, Math-U-See Algebra 2 TM and DVD and the lab equipment for Apologia Chemistry for $35. After our major vehicle expense this month taking my homeschooling money, that is a huge blessing. All I have left is the student manual for math and a few things from All About Spelling; less than $100. I also want to purchase items from Critial Thinking Press.

You got me chuckling about the needy dog, Judy! I have one (my daughter's dog) who will make a new doorway to get into the house during a thunderstorm.

I know what you mean about starting out the day behind. It's been hard to get up in the a.m. now that the heat has rolled in. I sleep with the AC on, so leaving the bedroom is a bit tough. If I miss that hour or two before the kidlets get up, it's hard to catch up! We've always had a rule, though, that you couldn't actually talk to me until 7 a.m. I'm more lax on that one now that the kids are older, but still if they get up early and see me staring off into space with my coffee cup held just below my nose for over a minute, they know not to say anything...it's a glitch in the system and will eventually work itself out...usually by the middle of the second cup of coffee. Talking to me only delays the process.

Now...time for me to go dig through my old photo CDs to find my old profile pic. I really did like that one. Sigh. Oh, well. At least it didn't totally erase me from the system!

The system will not let you post a picture until you have 50 posts. That is why your picture disappeared. It may still be in your profile, but not posted. I'm not sure how that works.
