I can send you some weekend snow if you'd like. I laugh when I see the headline that says the 'federal gov't is shut down' because my sweetie had to go to work. They mean to add the words 'MOST agencies" and 'in DC/Maryland/Virginia'. It riles me a smidge. Say what you mean, oh Mr Reporter Person.

No thanks on the snow. I think we are going to get enough. I am watching the news now. If the schools close tomorrow, I don't have to work. I could use the money, but at the moment, my sanity is worth more than half a day of babysitting. Plus the kids have a half day tomorrow anyway. I wish we would have gotten so many days and half days off when we were going to school.

You know what? I think I am going to make some. Thanks for the idea. Our schools are so stupid. There wasn't much snow on the ground when we woke up and even though it is going to keep getting worse as the day goes on, they stayed open. Now, an hour before school starts, you can't even see down the street. I told my kids that they could stay home if they shovel. That would be our corner lot, plus our neighbors driveway which is quite long as well as her front walk. The boys jumped on that. Then, one of the boys who rides to school with my son came this morning for a ride, but on the way here, his dad told him he could stay home and to just have me take him home when I go out. So double treat for my son. He gets to have a friend over, and that gives us an extra snow shoveler. Win/Win for everybody.

DeeDee needs scones for Saturday. I am making oatmeal with apricot and cherry/almond and she is making orange/cranberry.

Scones sound good to me! I've never made them, but I enjoy eating them. No snow for us, but plenty of rain. We now have "ponds" where we haven't seen standing water in years. We had a light coating of ice last week, but that's all. A friend whose family lives in Virginia was telling us that those children have only been to school a total of 8-10 days since the beginning of January. In the mountains not far from us, they've had 2 hour delays almost every day since January 4th, but only a couple of days with school shut down.

I've never made scones either, but I do love them. It's snowing here outside of Chicago and will continue till Wed. morning. I have a computer literacy class at the high school tonight and I hope it's not going to be canceled. I got some sad news from my cousin last night. She just found out that she has tongue cancer. I'm just so sad today. Please pray for her and her family. This is the cousin that I haven't seen in almost 10 years, but got back in touch a few years ago. I posted about our "family issues" up here some time ago and am glad we're in contact again. I was so filled with joy when she told me se had become a believer. I haven't told dh or the kids yet. Got to run some errands soon. Baby cat is doing well and big cat is more accepting of him now. Dog has been playing mediator. It's kind of cute.

no school here today. The roads are a mess! Brian and I went out for breakfast and then to do the grocery shopping. Got over $165 worth of groceries for about $125! Did good in the savings department! The snow seems to be tapering off a bit according to the radar. Other than that it's pretty quiet around here. Zoe and Ethan have been playing outside with a neighbor kid, Ty's shoveling and Aryn's making apple crisp! Blessings, Garsy

No school here today either. Our roads are terrible. The snow is still falling, but it's the little, itsy, bitsy flakes.

MBee, I do orange/cranberry as well. They are awesome. Our kids did have school today and I was supposed to babysit for only half a day, but I let my kids stay home thinking it would be no big deal since I was only babysitting til 11:30, but then I got a call from my nephew's dad that they are now going to be here all day. Ok, so I like the money, but then again, I had plans for the afternooon. But I can't really say no. Leave work and pick them up. Hubby is working from home today. Maybe I can sneak to the grocery store during nap time.

We only got a bit of snow, but it's blowing so hard it's creating high drifts. Linz couldn't get to school the normal way, she had to drive 2 miles out of the way to get to the highway.

I have heard of it and actually looked it up because my tongue was swollen for a long time and I was afraid to go to the doctor. It was pretty scary, especially when I saw the pictures. It can look like a little crack or a big blister. I am sorry for your cousin too. I went back and can't find the post. I hope they caught it early. I know they can cure it, but usually it is caught late. :(

We already have a 2 hour delay for tomorrow morning. I'm predicting a cancellation by 7 AM. We are supposed to be getting the winds coming in tonight and blowing all this stuff all over the place. YUCK! Blessings, Garsy

Light snow all day. Maybe an inch or two? School should be fine. Sounds like a nice quiet snow day for folks. I'm glad you save money shopping with your husband. While I like going with Dean, lately I just want to go myself because we spend less. Kindergarten Orientation Thursday. Not sure if it is worth going (its mostly introductory for parents who haven't had kids in kindergarten) but I suppose I can fill out the forms. Thank you for your comments everyone. Going to Kindergarten Orientation Thursday.

I'm glad you save money shopping with your husband. Actually hubby started shopping with me, but then decided to go and get gas in the car and stopped by a friends house. By the time I was done, he was back and waiting for me outside. The store had people stationed at the doors to help folks out with their groceries too! That was so nice. Plus it helped them keep the carts in the store so they wouldn't have to send their stock boys out in the mess to fetch them from all over the lot. The stock boys were really happy about that and were glad to help load groceries at the curb instead! Blessings, Garsy

We are closed as of 5am. The plow went down the road at 4ish and by 5ish, PBee said their was about 2 new inches on the road. That is unscientific at best, but you get the idea. I talked to the boss yesterday and told him that if the school closed I was staying home and making scones and all he said was to bring some in. Now, I do have to say we also talked about work, my pending pile, to do lists and got done lists and I was there well after 3:30. And, when I left I started the van, cleaned it and put the brush back and saw the windshield fluid and so I lifted the hood to fill that up. Anyhow, I was making noise, never heard the office door and when I had the hood up, I had my boss' face beside mine asking if everything was ok. That is nice.

Day 2 of Snow days. They'll be back tomorrow pending anything weird. We have, I think, now used all our built in snow days. We may have one more left. That's not good because in the spring when we get the flood and they have to cancel because the buses can't travel many roads, well we'll be tacking days on this year. My kids are going to a bit stir crazy! Ty was supposed to have his meeting with his adviser today, to go over class choices for next year. That's going to have to be rescheduled now. Blessings, Garsy

Blessings, Garsy My baby boy brought home his paperwork for High School registration. I never in a million years ever thought I would have a child in High School. I feel so very old at the moment. We didn't have any snow days with this storm, and so far none for the year. I can't believe that we made it this far without one day off.
