he lady tried to sell me a pair of 139.99 shoes!

Were they Kayanos?

HC--Tell Brooks I love the 10s! (Which shoes are you wearing?)

While on vacation, I finally had the opportunity to try the Nike LunarGlides. HATED THEM. The heel felt high and squishy and the toebox felt narrow. It makes me wonder what all these people raving about them were wearing before.

I think so. They were really comfy.

They are having a shoe sale this weekend in the other city. So I still have time to exchange them .. this running store gives you a week.

but these are new balance 760 stability shoes.

myka--BUMMER!!! ITBS is no fun! Are you able to do anything yet? When can you start c25k again? I'm assuming you will be fit with proper shoes...

myka if your ankles are turning you have the wrong shoes. The girl at the running store just switched me over to a new brand..

The shoes that I was using were old (GTS 7's -- I got them on clearance, the first ones that I got at the running store where they did a gait analysis); I had just bought new ones literally the day before it really flared up. This was a very good thing because I could wear the new shoes while I healed up.

HC, I haven't done much of anything for the past month other than the normal walking that just happens in life. I went for a 2-mile walk this evening just to see how it goes. My friend who is a PT said to try some cross training, but I haven't really done much of that cause I really don't like my bike.

myka--sounds like your injury wsa building. A7's are pretty old now. I'm test wearing 11's. But, sounds like you are on the road to recovery! Walkign 2miles is certainly a good start! You might ask your PT friend for some IT stretches.

It sounds like my kind of luck which is why I keep a gym membership or else I'd just sit and watch TV

New shoes seem ok.

For real. My next long run is Saturday, the second day of our next heat wave, with "record temps" according to the weather guy. <--me burning up in the heat

Yep... Heat advisory for Saturday, which of course is my long run. Heat advisory today, too. I got out for my 6mile run early and it wasn't too bad.

It's been boiling here too. It took summer for ever to arrive, but now that it has...

Of course, since I'm working swing shift now, I don't get up until later in the morning when it's too toasty. I ran a fairly slow 1.5 miles just now and I think I'm going to wilt...

My "long" run this morning was only six miles. At first I thought it was too short, but as I stepped out the front door and realized how hot it was, I was glad! There were a couple of times I nearly quit, but I managed to finish. Then I napped for three hours.

Seriously, this heat! I had my five mile race this morning. Shortly after the one mile mark, the race route went past the street where a couple in my small group lives. The wife handed me a bottle of water (God bless her!). I drank about two thirds of it over the next mile, then I dumped the rest over my head. That felt glorious.

Other than the heat, the race was pretty fun. I ran the whole way, didn't finish last, and finished in under an hour, which were my goals. So I consider it a success! When I first started running in May, this was the event I was focused on training for. But at that time I was signed up for the two mile instead of the five mile. So yay!

Then I did the same as stellaluna . . . came home and took a very long nap.

ames--GREAT JOB!!!

Long run this morning. Only made it 9miles and walked the last 2. Just too hot! Dumb move of the day (or year!!!) My new shoes just weren't doing it this morning. Even though they are only a week or so old, they felt totally dead, ready to be replaced. When I got home, I realized why. I had gotten dressed in the dark and accidentally wore a pair of retired shoes!

Miracle of miracles! Our temps plummeted a little while ago to 73 and it started raining...so naturally I ran. Did a quick three and a quarter run, which is perfect because now I can rest tomorrow and readjust my runs the rest of the week. I'm seeing Willie Nelson on Wednesday and that was conflicting with my training schedule.

I'm thinking it's bike ride today. Another scorcher here and I'm too lazy to get out of bed early enough to run before I melt...

Funny story: last week when I picked up my race bag it included the following:
some expired coupons (expired in June)
a coupon for Dick's apparel that excludes: Under Armour, North Face, Nike, Livestrong, Dri-fit, Sphere, Pro, Addidas, Clima 365, Burton, and "some additional exclusions may apply". So, what apparel does that leave I wonder.....

Just though those were funny.

That is funny! Ha ha!

The race I just ran this weekend gave us samples of colon cleansing pills in our race bag. We got a good chuckle out of that.

What an awsome reward! SO worth all that hard work right? At least I didn't have to work for my expired coupons.

Makes you wonder if they did that on purpose and hoped no one would notice?

I had a good bike ride yesterday but it was soooo hot. By the time I went, it was about 100F. I rode 6 miles to my aunt and uncles house to see their new baby. Drank several glasses of water, then hit the rode again and returned to my house. I was doing fine but my rear end can tell that it's been while since I've ridden...

I had a decent run today. It was still warm but I don't think it had hit 90F yet...

Today was awesome! I can do 90 degrees if the humidity is low, which it was today. Except there's this one place where I have to turn the corner around a building and I'm always afraid I'm going to run into someone and today I nearly did! I literally threw my hand against the wall to propel myself away from him. Then we both said sorry sorry and I kept going. I was halfway afraid I hurt my hand or wrist, but it seems fine.

Also there were lots and lots of film trucks, but I didn't see anyone famous. I never do.

I have a six-mile run for this evening, thanks to Willie Nelson pushing my schedule around. Then I have 11 miles on Saturday and the weather is looking a lot cooler and drier! Is everyone else getting a break from the heat?

Anyone have races coming up?
